Handling Humidity

When living in a maritime climate, there are dangerous weather events. Most locals are aware of the issue and respond accordingly. These weather conditions should have news alerts. It would be great if a comprehensive guide for surviving weather phenomenon was available at tourist information booths.

Most people, living in other climates, do not recognize a weather event unless it is below freezing or a storm. Hurricanes, tornadoes and blizzards are an obvious problem. Less obvious problems relate to humidity. Cold weather in humid climates can be deadly. If thinking of moving, people should wait to buy necessities at local stores that sell popular brands in a region.

Without a record of cold weather bubbles, it is best to explain through personal experience. In Oregon severe cold begins at 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Most people hang blanket near walls or to separate rooms in October.

Experimenting with the issue, my family did not like blankets. Over time, there were signs of red or black mold in the bathroom. The mold seemed to spread. Responding to the cold weather, it is natural to increase the temperature on the thermostat. Heat makes water rise into the ceiling and walls.

I remember playing during a humid day. Technically, it was not raining. The air was thick and rain was like a mist with sprinkles of rain in the air. I was completely soaked within one hour. That is what it is like at home. Luckily, it was about 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise, I could have froze.

Pneumonia and colds are rampant during the winter seasons. Breathing in a lot of moisture open the lungs, it allows water to settle in the lungs. Blankets absorb moisture. Bacteria and mold are eliminated after they are washed. Hanging blankets creates a helpful barrier to humidity.

It is great to have warm air. In the summer is rises and clears out the home. Leaving the window open, is nice and brings in fresh air while releasing stagnant air. When it is cold, the air lingers and rests along the ground.

Air circulation is important. I find cleaning the walls semi-annually is good. It is good to wash decorative towels and bedding semi-frequently. Carpet cleaning powders absorb moisture and get sucked into the vacuum. Using powders and replacing vacuum bags semi-frequently is wonderful. It is also smells clean and nice.

Cold is not bad. Considering a person could freeze to death when is not freezing, severe cold is a major problem in maritime climates. Recommendations from friends and family is helpful. More people should be aware of potential problems. Wear the right clothes and get the right amenities. When everyone has a thermometer on the front porch, it is a good idea to get an outdoor thermometer for the front porch.
